Warren Buffett would repeat the same line:
“We can afford to lose money. We can afford to lose a lot of money. But we cant afford to lose even a shred of reputation.”
@mickymalka says ”Reputation matters more than anything.”
Berkshire would play a clip of Buffett saying that line at every single Berkshire annual meeting:
“ I started to go to the Berkshire annual meetings when I was eighteen. Back then they were much smaller. They were on a Friday afternoon at a Holiday Inn, with a couple hundred people.”
“As soon as they moved to the bigger convention center a few years later, they had this clip playing in the beginning of the annual meeting with a bunch of Buffett interviews over the years. Every time, they were playing Buffett getting deposed when he was the chairman of Salomon Brothers saying that line that you just said.”
”Reputation matters more than anything.”
